GOT 2B SAFE! CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. ELIGIBILITY: The Got 2B Safe! Classroom Awards Contest (“Contest”) is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are of majority in the jurisdiction in which they reside (and at least 18 years of age) and who are certified teachers currently employed as teachers at a public or accredited private school grade K-12, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Employees of Honeywell International Inc. or other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

  2. SPONSOR: The Contest is sponsored by Honeywell, 101 Columbia Road, Morristown, New Jersey, 07962, USA (the “Sponsor”).

  3. AGREEMENT TO OFFICIAL RULES: Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to an acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

  4. ENTRY PERIOD: The Contest begins on February 20, 2012 at 12:01 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on April 13, 2012 at 11:59 PM ET (the “Entry Period”). Entries submitted prior to or after the Entry Period will be disqualified.

  5. HOW TO ENTER: During the Entry Period, to enter, you must submit an essay of no more than 250 words explaining how you have taught or can teach the following four (4) safety tips and how the students have used or can use these tips:

    1. Check First - Children should always check with parents and guardians before accepting gifts, rides or invitations from anyone, including friends, acquaintances and people they don’t know.

    2. Go With a Friend - Simple and straightforward – never go anywhere alone. Being with another person in public is safer and more fun.

    3. It's My Body - Teach your children they have the right to say NO to any unwelcome, uncomfortable or confusing touch or actions by others.

    4. Tell a Trusted Adult - Teach your children to TELL a trusted adult - parent, teacher, etc. - if anyone or anything makes them feel scared, uncomfortable or confused.

    Submit your essay and the entry form online at www.got2bsafe.com/Contest by following the directions provided. All entries must be received by 11:59 PM ET on April 13, 2012. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. Limit one (1) per person/email address. All entries become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.

    Entry must be the entrant’s own original work, previously unpublished and cannot have been submitted in connection with any other contest, be in keeping with the Sponsor’s image and may not be offensive or inappropriate, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, nor can it defame or invade the publicly rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights or any other third party rights.

  6. RIGHTS TO ENTRIES: By submitting an entry, you grant the Sponsor the right in perpetuity to reproduce, publish, use, edit, adapt and/or modify your entry, in any way, in any and all media throughout the world, and to associate the entry with your name, image, likeness and biographical information, without limitation and without compensation. By submitting an entry, you further agree not to instigate, support, maintain or authorize any action, claim or lawsuit against the Sponsor, or any other person, on the grounds that any use of the entry, or any derivative works, infringe any of your rights, including, without limitation, copyrights, moral rights or “droit moral.” Nothing herein shall constitute an employment, joint venture or partnership relationship between you and the Sponsor. In no way are you to be construed as the agent or to be acting as the agent of the Sponsor.

  7. JUDGING: All eligible entries received by Sponsor will be judged by a panel of qualified judges equally on the following Judging Criteria: adherence to theme, creativity in how to teach the tips and how children can use tips, involvement of outside resources (e.g., local police officers) and involvement of other teachers and school officials. In the event of a tie, an additional, "tie-breaking" judge will determine the winner(s) based on the criteria listed herein. Sponsor reserves the right to not award all prizes if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified entries. Judges' decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Contest. The odds of being selected as a winner depend upon the adherence to the Judging Criteria above and the total number of essays submitted.

  8. WINNER NOTIFICATION: Potential winners will be notified by telephone, mail and/or email and may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release and Publicity Release (unless prohibited by law), which must be returned within fourteen (14) days of date appearing on prize notification. Potential winners' principals will also be required to execute a Prize Notification Letter that indicates that the prize has been awarded to the winner and the winner has the sole discretion of how they utilize the prize. Return of prize or prize notification as undeliverable, failure to execute and return requested documentation within fourteen (14) days of issuance, or noncompliance with these Official Rules by the any potential winner will result in disqualification and, at Sponsor's discretion, the prize may be awarded to the runner-up.

  9. PRIZES: Grand Prize (5): Each Grand Prize winner will receive a classroom makeover valued at $10,000. Makeovers will be conducted by designer selected by Sponsor. Makeovers may include without limitation the following environmentally friendly services and goods: technology resources, such as a laptop or Smartboard, applying new lead free paint, the purchase and installation of new furniture, lighting and accessories (such as vinyl decal artwork and curtains), subject to approval of the applicable school.

    While a winner is not obligated to retain the changes made to the winner's classroom as part of the prize, Released Parties are not required to restore the winner's classroom to its original conditions or to remove any lighting, accessories or painting installed as a part of the prize package. Each winner will be asked to provide written assurance of his/her willingness to accept the makeover plan, and to provide a waiver of any liability in connection with the makeover as a condition of winning this Contest, including release of any liability relating to any damages that may occur in connection with the makeover. First Prize (100): $500 gift card to a supply store selected by Sponsor. Gift card is subject to terms and conditions as specified by issuer. Approximate Retail Value of all prizes: $100,000. All prizes will be awarded within 6 months of the winner notification and acceptance. Winner is responsible to advise if they have not received the prize within 6 months of accepting the prize. Sponsor will not issue or reissue prizing exceeding 12 months from the acceptance date. No substitution or transfer of a prize is permitted, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. Any and all taxes as well as all other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use are the sole responsibility of the prize recipient.

    9a. Designers will attempt to use carbon neutral supplies and will recycle all applicable classroom materials whenever possible. Designer will consult with each winner regarding the makeover, but all final makeover decisions will be in designer's sole discretion. If the winner agrees to accept the prize, the winner must agree to allow Sponsor's crew to make all suggested changes. Designer will work with each winner to consider his/her personal tastes and needs in developing the makeover plans.

  10. GENERAL CONDITIONS: In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, or other technical problem, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; or (b) award the prizes according to the Judging Criteria from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. In the event of a dispute as to any online entry, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to enter will be deemed to be the participant. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

  11. RELEASE AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its related companies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (b) technical errors related to computers, servers, providers, or telephone or network lines; (c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (e) errors in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt of any prize. Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties’ liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall the Released Parties be liable for attorney’s fees. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

  12. DISPUTES: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in New Jersey All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrant’s rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of New Jersey without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of New Jersey or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than New Jersey.
