Lesson Plan
Overview: I will discuss with my students some rules of safety in the community. I will allow all reasonable answers.

Key Points: As a whole group, I will discuss the Four Rules for Preventing Child Abduction, explaining each rule and checking for student comprehension.

Lesson Plan:
Whole Group-I will use a puppet to be the stranger and draw a backgroud of a playground on the blackboard. Also on the blackboard will be the Check First rule. I will choose two student volunteers to use a puppet to act as themselves and another student to act as the parent. As the "stranger" puppet bearing a gift, I will approach the children, tell them I have more presents at my house and ask them to come with me. The students will then act out the correct procedure (asking their parents first.)
Small Groups- After this has been modeled to the class, children will take puppets and act out Rule One. Repeat with rules two, three and four. Review by asking the students to choose one rule draw and write about using the correct procedure. If time permits, students will share their work with the class.
